Lol I had the same journey as a high schooler with my parents (white to brown rice). They had this arc for a few years, then they tried black rice. Then slowly transitioned to half brown/white rice. Now they’re back to white. Thank god brown is less healthy- it tastes way worse!
huge agree with this. i’d also say the fiber content in brown rice is so negligible it’s really not a benefit anyways. just have white rice and an apple
When I learned of purple rice (aka wild rice)?? My whole brain broke. Who knew rice could be so... fabulous!
That said, I did get got by Haiga rice, the biracial Japanese rice that is basically half-milled brown rice that leaves the germ, while stripping the bran (allegedly more digestible like white rice, but retains the nutrition of brown rice). Thank you for freeing me from white rice guilt.
Really interesting. To be honest, in Spain brown rice is not really a big thing but is good to know that the quality of white rice is superior to the brown one
Eating something because you "should" often just leads to guiltily consuming your favorite, more fulfilling snacks anyway. Go straight for the good stuff -- we underestimate how important enjoyment can be when it comes to our meals and our health! Great take.
Been an avid consumer of jasmine white rice for about 2 years and enjoy it 4-5 days per week incl with egg whites at breakfast. Today at age 64 I am 9% BF and in the best shape of my life. Love white race will all kinds of food.
This is a paradigm shifting article that removes a lot of latent guilt over eating what is clearly the superior rice flavor-wise. Thank you.

You're buying rice all wrong! You get it for free by visiting your parents and somehow leave with 3 bags of rice and a huge bag of spring rolls.
conveniently, my parents are visiting at the end of the month lol

We 100% had a purple rice phase too. And sometimes Haiga rice hits.... especially when say Okonomi makes it instead

No wonder I hate brown rice...too hard to get cooked just right...tastes ok, but...it's not white rice. This is awesome, thanks
