A conversation with the author and journalist about secretly crushing miles, the gear he can't stop buying, and training for his first marathon this upcoming November.
I’m also running the NYC marathon in November and it’s so interesting reading other people’s routines. I feel like I’m going crazy!!! I’ll try the no devices tip even though it scares me.
The Nikes shorts thing is so real. I have three different variations of what is ostensibly the same short. Also, I was wearing my “lifestyle” Asics and my dad told me he raced in those in college. I can’t imagine wearing them to run but that was the advanced tech in the seventies.
I've been running for, like, literally a week, and am just getting ready to head out this morning (6 a.m., coffee first but no breakfast) so reading this is massively inspiring. (What's up, Hua!)
This makes me want to run, and I absolutely hate running.
i was literally typing out a dm asking for a hua hsu interview when i got the notif hahaha
Yoooo no way lol

Ancient gym shorts STAN!! I still wear my dark blue shiny Adidas mesh shorts from high school (I’m 34 years old). Lovely read as usual, Chris!

Satisfy's the best. loved this interview, which made me want to start running again -but still afraid of this 'dad cliché' haha 🙃
Oh man, I know! Talking to him made me want to sign up for a race as an excuse to buy shoes
