Reporting in on Yan May - I've been dealing with a nagging ankle injury which is now causing calf and heel pain so I decided to pay them a visit today off your recommendation. This was not a pleasant massage, homie had me sweating through my tshirt and gripping the chair armrests. Even when I made audible whimpers of pain he did NOT RELENT. I was hanging on by a thread for most of the massage.

I think I'mma go back again next week.

Yes Fishion was one of my first "i can't believe there are affordable massages in nyc" spots. I also recc 302 Grand Spa in Williamsburg -- those ladies use their forearms like rolling pins to absolutely wring you out but I feel so loosey goosey afterwards. $55/hour!

I swear by All Seasons Body Work on 57 W 8th Street. They are so good, firm, but will listen to what you want, and so affordable (usually about $1/minute but sometimes they run specials). the foot massages are amazing too!

Bitchhhh i am a diehard Chinese massage devotee, and have never even heard of these spots!! THANK U. My go-to when I’m in NY is Zu Yuan Spa, which gets extra points for a nice overhead view of Canal street while you’re getting a foot massage.

I found massage late in life—well, I was like 23. It was when Groupons were all the rage and I bought a fancy pants sounding spa day with a rose petal bath. I was instantly bit by the bug. I became a super fan and felt like, as a mostly poor person growing up, I had been lied to. Massages were not for the rich. They were for the people!!! I digress. One of my favorite things to do on any and all trips that I take is book a massage. My all-time favorite massage was in India when I stayed at Hotel Mumbai (yes, like the true-life movie about the terrorist and hostage situation there that I, thankfully, did not watch before I went). I'll never forget that massage. She walked on me. She pushed muscles I didn't know I had. She was an ARTISTE! She was from Bangladesh and I'll never forget the way she made me feel. I can't wait to try these spots next time I'm in New York. Thanks for sharing your love of massage with us and suffering so we can all live.
